Photo editing?
« on: July 27, 2011, 06:34:57 AM »
Can anyone tell me how to edit the guy out of this photo. I love this pic but didnt notice the guy in the background until I moved the picture from my camera to the computer...

Yep, photo shop has a cloning tool that allows you to basically take a spot from anywhere on the photo and copy it to another location.  Its very affective in removing small items such as this without being noticed.

Photoshop.  Since I used your posted photo the resulting image may not be as good as the original.

Whatever you do, get rid of the little white sign on the right also.  It really draws the eye.  Great photo by the way.

Photoshop Elements is $80 at Costco.  It's a good investment and will do 99% of what most non-professionals need.

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11604798&search=photoshop&Mo=1&cm_re=1_en-_-Top_Left_Nav-_-Top_search&lang=en-US&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Sp=S&N=5000043&whse=BC&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=Text_Search&Dr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ne=4000000&D=photoshop&Ntt=photoshop&No=0&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1

Warning: it's addictive.  You can do much with photos to improve them: remove objects, insert objectives, change color balance (warm up like below), crop, and so forth.

Very true!  For the average user who is just editing a few quick photos here and there, or building simple graphics this is a great program to use.  They are on Elements 9 now and have added some great features from previous versions.  I have the new Photoshop CS5.1 extended version, and for a beginner or someone who doens't understand it, it could be quite overwhelming and frustrating to use so I would shy away from that program in the beginning stages.  I have used Elements for a long time and I would recommend that product to anyone on the site looking for a good quality program to edit your photos in or someone wanting to learn how to edit photos or build simple graphics.
