Yellowstone is dead
« on: July 27, 2011, 12:03:32 PM »
I just got my copy today. I strongly encourage you guys who have friends/family, who are on the fence with the whole wolf issue, to show them this DVD. It can be an eye opener....

"Yellowstone is Dead" would have been a much more effective tool if you didn't have to pay for it to watch it. $20 or something like that...too much for me to shell out. If Rockholm really wanted to make a statement and show the proof, he should have put it out there for the world to see free of charge. All the hype for this video to come out and show the evidence and all that, then we have to pay for it.... Boooo.....

Its $16 bucks with shipping.  :dunno: Cheaper than a new DVD at Walmart

the point is, if he really wanted to get the message out it would be free of charge,... most poeple wouldn't spend money to watch something that isn't interetaining. i would think that most people who will spend money to buy it are hunters/ anti-wolf people,  that won't do much..  :twocents:

Yeah I guess, I still liked the movie though. I think this is why the wolf issue has made it so far. Sportsmen don't want the wolves, but very few are willing to spend any of their personal time and money on the issue. I paid $16 bucks for a piece of educational literature to share with friends and family. The guy, who I assume is a working class citizen, made a friggin movie. I'm sure that isn't cheap. Maybe I'm wrong though and he is making a profit....

The point I'm getting at is I plan on SHARING this with non hunting friends and family. I already know what is going on through my own research. The reason I bought this was to show others, so they understand why I am so passionate about the issue.

All of the proceeds from the movie are going towards Robert Fanning's lawsuit.

We Need Your Help!
"Friends of the Northern Yellowstone Elk Herd intends to file litigation regarding the denial of the petition to delist the Northern Grey Wolf very soon. The link to the letter our attorney wrote to the Montana Legislature on Dec 6, 2006 shows FOTNYEH has the "standing" to sue.

Friends of the Northern Yellowstone Elk Herd requests that you make your donations that will fund the wolf lawsuit directly to the Budd-Falen Law Offices of Cheyenne Wyoming. Contact Becky Ostertag directly, send a check with "FOTNYEH litigation fund" in the notation line on the front of the check or make a credit card donation over the phone.

Telefax 307/637-3891

www.buddfalen.com

100 % of your donation goes to the lawsuit.

The goal of the litigation is to;
Prove that the USFWS broke the law in the administration and implimentation of wolf introduction in the Northern Rocky Mountains.

Seek restituition for damages done to the environment, private property, ranching , hunting, County tax reciepts and wildlife that resulted from the violations of those laws broken  in the administration and implimentation of wolf introduction program in the Northern Rocky Mountains. The restitution mechanism will be for past damages,

Have the United States Supreme Court order wildlife officials to impliment lethal wolf control in order to restore game herds back to original levels promised by Congress and the original scientific studies before wolves were forced on the States of Montana, Idaho and Wyoming.

Have a judicial review of the abuse of  Distinct Population Segment interpretation by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the letter from the law office to FOTNYEH describing the donations:

Pursuant to your request, the purpose of this letter is to confirm that this firm can set up a trust account to hold donations sent to this firm for legal fees in connection with the proposed litigation regarding the denial of the petition to delist the Northern Grey Wolf filed by the Friends of the Northern Yellowstone Elk Herd (“Friends of the Elk”). As required by the Wyoming attorney rules of ethics, this firm already has a bank trust account to hold client funds in anticipation of litigation. That trust account is segregated by individual client names, so we could easily set up a separate account for the Friends of the Elk case. Donations can be made to that account anonymously, but it would be necessary to include on the check or the credit card slip a memo denoting that the funds were to be used for the Friends of the Elk case. If litigation were not filed, we would return the donations to each individual donor. If only a portion of the funds raised were used, we would also return any unused funds to each donor based upon the pro rata share of the donation.

Additionally, you asked whether the donations to the litigation could be claimed on the individuals’ tax returns. To qualify as a deductible contribution, the donation has to be given to a tax-exempt, non-profit organization. Our law firm is not an organization that qualifies to receive such charitable contributions.

Sincerely,

Karen Budd-Falen

I sent Rockholm a message last spring and suggested he put the movie on his site as a pay per view. They could sell the movie for less, reach more people, and make more money. No doubt there is a cost to make the movie that you can't blame them for wanting to recover, and if they are putting proceeds toward the lawsuit maybe that's a good thing to have a lawsuit from the other side for a change. :dunno:

I agree with many things you say jackelope, but not this. I honestly do not understand the vendetta. It must be personal between you, your buds, and them. I think this documentary is more than well worth watching. It is worth paying for. One question, have you watched it? Yes, or No.

No.
There's no vendetta. I don't like Rockholm's attitude but I do respect what he is doing. I don't think he's going about it as he should, belittling everyone who doesn't agree with his opinions.

I tend to agree with the whole belittling like was said by jackelope. Scott does come down hard on people who may be just ignorent of the situation on wolves.

I didn't know jackelpoe had "buds".  :chuckle:

Here's a peak.

Fair enough, it just seems every time "Rockholm" or "Wolfbait" come up you and a few others lash out. You are the moderator, I am a guest, so I'll say no more. It is clear at least to me they are not welcome here. I'd rather not join them, and I don't feel they need me to defend them as they are big boys. However, I do not think it serves the greater good to fight with them. I think they have a lot to contribute and we have plenty of enemies without fighting each other and running down the work each other do. That's my opinion. Now, you say you will not pay to see "Yellowstone Is Dead." I asked you if you have watched it for a reason. I bought more than one copy and I share it with certain people. I think your opinion matters, I respect your participation in the wolf debate. I am willing to send you a copy or drop it off next time I am your way if you are willing to watch it.

What.....do you have a vendetta against everyone else.  :chuckle:  That is very respectful of you to make that offer. I hope he takes you up on it. Although I do not agree how some are treated by Scott, I believe he is trying the best he can to help the "manage the wolf" cause.
