Archery Mudlow Bull!
« on: July 27, 2011, 04:03:08 PM »
I have been down there 3 times and hope to go 2 more times before the season starts. I feel I have a good game plan, But there is one thing I would like to have a little help on, that is where to camp. I have done the whole sleep in the truck parked near my hunting area, but that sucks pretty bad. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on a good spot to throw up a tent with out it getting messed with. I will be hunting by myself and be camping on my own as well.

Kid Valley Campground. Better get there quick to put down a deposit. I am staying there for the early archery season. I bet it will fill up quick with hunters. $18 a night for no hook up. Plus they have showers.

That is the closest spot that I can think of.  Or try and tent camp closer to your hunt area.  Your hunt area main line will have alot of traffic from the toutle tag holders. And a couple more mudflow tags ;)  Not sure what is the best option yet.

Stop by the eco park it is around the 25 mile mark on the hyw. I know he has cabins to rent not sure about tent spots anyway when you stop by there ask to talk to Mark SmIth he owns th place and if nothing else he would probally help you find a spot to throw up a tent on state land

Eco is an option, but the close the gate early and open it late.  I have stayed at Kid Valley the past few years.  We have mudflow tags as well, so we will be camping on some state land this time.  Most of the guys will be walking down the same road you probably have been scouting, so the animals will get pushed a little.  10 cow tag and 5 bull tags down there for archery.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

He has tent spots. We stayed there last year when my buddy had the mudflow bull tag. There are lots of elk on both sides of the river.

I have this tag also and plan on camping close to where I hunt. The way I see it I dont get the chance to hunt quality bulls like I'm seeing every year so plan on camping close enough to slip into my area early ,but not to close to move the them off. I hunt alone and always camp with as low a profile as possible I stay quite while in camp and don't have fires,it is not very comfortable but I think it increases my chances.
