choosing camera location

I went out today to hang a camera at a spot that I saw a few bulls at a few weeks ago. My plan was to pack in my camera and some salt and find a spot to hang it which was easier said than done. There was a decent amount of sign in the area and I kept coming across spots that looked "solid" but not one that screamed at me to hang it there. I hiked all over, turning around here and and zig zagging there. I finally found a spot that looked promising, hung my camera and headed out. When I was driving out I had two thoughts going through my mind. First was how indecisive I am  and second was how i really hope I can remember where I hung it when I go back to check it.

That is what I am hoping too! I didn't make a very direct route in or out so it will be a great test of my memory. I normally would bring my GPS but they are currently in Texas with my folks for a few weeks.

At least if you don't walk right to it you get to learn the area better walking it again!

That is a very good point. I am really liking the area as a whole and hoping that I can get a picture of a record book true spike.

First time hiking in to check my cam, found a moose horn from wondering around the wrong way. hope you have a good story as well. all i have are bear and cow moose on mine with one spike whitetail so i moved it this week, took me 45 to find it again. i like to think im not the only one with this problem

I know for sure you aren't the only one with this issue. I saw a handful of deer while hiking around so that was an added bonus.

If you have a GPS and it gets a signal there mark the spot on your GPS.

What is funny is when you search and search then later find a dozen or so pics of yourself looking irritated and p****d off on the cam from passing it up a bunch. Nope, never happened to me. I marked that baby with the GPS and made it right back first time.

I would have used my GPS if it didn't end up getting packed and moved down with my dad to Texas.
