Victor,
Looks like you found the Goat you were after.  You have been putting in the foot work to find that Billie that is for sure.
Glad the area worked out for you and hopefully we can accompany you on the hunt.  Looks like a good crew to hang out with.

As far as mass, these pics under rate him i think.  It looked like i might be able to fit a finger between the bases on the forehead.  The width of the horn at the base was about 1 1/2 of the width the eye.  I spent about an hour looking at him in the spotting scope at less than 100 yards.  Not sure about a guess on length, not a goat expert, but plenty long for me.

As far as hair, looks like they were all completely shed and even looked like they were starting the fall coat.  Long hair is just a bonus - the experience and the chance to nail a big goat is just as fulfilling  -heck even what I have done so far can't be bought.  It is all we talk about now.

As far as mass, I am just taking best guesses based on the pics, but pics rarely do a goat justice. As far as score goes, it is really important on how far the mass carries up he horn. It's the second and third quarter measurements that can make or break a good goat!

I definitely agree with the second statement. Get a good goat and enjoy our hunt, but the overall score and hair length matter little compared to being able to enjoy a goat hunt in WA state!  Good luck and have fun!

You guys crack me up.  Hunting goats isn't the top.

Your looking at a huge group of isolated managed game animals with select access.  Thats not too difficult nor is getting a goat all that unique.  The distribution of Mt. goats across Alaska, BC, and the western states is broad.  Many are harvested each year from dense well managed groups just like your seeing here.

If I was to hang my hat on something as my paramount hunting accomplishment it would only relate to the amount of personal effort put into the hunt.  A huge Columbian Blacktail, Cougar, 180" Bighorn, 20" Blackbear, 27" Grizzly, these are all great western game trophies.  Throw in some Moose, Muley, Caribou, and wolverine and your gonna be chasing the pinnacle for a  long time.  Especially wolverine! Grin.

Sounds like he's found a game animal and will use an established route and go in for the kill.  I don't believe for an instance that after this harvest he's done or will say that his goat tops all.  We are hunters and as such we will continue the pursuit, no top in sight, no end to be found.  He's just enjoying his tag and making meat.  Next.....

Regardless.  We are all looking forward to your goat hunt photos and story.  They are always filled with crazy antics and cliff hanging maneuvers.

I depends on where you are from, If I lived in AK and had access to  sheep or grizz, WITHOUT a $15000 price tag. I might agree with you.

In my opinion, goat hunting is as good as it gets in Wa. and the opportunity to go is just as important filling a tag.
