Sent in my Wifes Leupold VX III
« on: August 01, 2011, 01:17:35 PM »
We hit the range yesterday to put the wife's 7mm-08 on paper. I had made up some 140gr Nosler Partitions for her and wanted to see how the grouped. After two shots, I zoomed the VX III up to 10x, and noticed around 6 or 7x that the scope was getting fuzzy and worsened the higher the magnification. I tried to focus with no luck, so took it home, pulled the scope, wrote a note and put it in the mail today. I am sure Leupold will get it as good as new. Anyone els have this problem? I don't think it was operator error, but who knows.

I had my scope mess up and sent it to them. Just before my Idaho trip a few years ago. I got it back full rebuilt fast. Will get no other cause of that.

Yup! I have heard nothing but great stories about Leupold customer service. I sent in a VX II a few years ago and got it back fast, fully gone threw with a list of things they did to the scope. Glad they treated you well too. Great company!

It's interesting how you here how great the Leupold CS is and how fast they repair scopes.  I've owned scopes by Nikon, Bushnell, Weaver, Redfield, Burris, Mueller, Leupold, Swift, Vortex and a few more oldtimers and the only one that has ever had to go in for repairs was a Leupold, it's a real good thing that they have such a good repair policy because it sure seems to be used alot.

AWS,
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I have had a few dealings with them all were quick and painless. My average is about 12 days without a scope.

If you ever want to get pissed at cs try swarovski. I heard all these stories of them offering a loaner......blah blah. I was without mine for over 3 months.

I called Swarovski for angled eyecups for my Kahles binoculars...they were quickly in my hands and no charge, no negotiations...just good CS.
Ditto on the many proud owners of repaired/replaced Leupolds...too many for me to trust to my hunt.

I have a VX-I that wouldn't hold a zero for more then a few hours. Meaning I could sight in, go hunt miss a deer, resight in only to find it was 5" high, or 4" to the right, or whatever. Sent it in early in Sept. had it back before Oct. with a reticle change. I have not had a problem with it since..

I receved a call from Leupold this afternoon. I spoke to a nice lady about the VX III we sent in. She said that Leupold would need to replace our scope. She offered me a new VX III 3.5-12 x40scope like the one we sent in or Leupold would up grade us to a new VX III 4.5-14 x 40. I took the up grade, dont know that I really need a 14x, but what the heck! Good service! The lady did not know what was wrong with the original scope. I am glad to be getting a better one! Thanks Leupold!

Was your scope a Vari X-III or a VX-III? If it was the old Vari X-III, then you're getting a heck of a good deal with the upgrade. The new VX-II's are pretty much the equivalent of the old Vari X-III's. So how much are you having to pay?

You know.....I think its a Vari x III.  I sure like the original. Looking forward to trying the VX III. I pay nothing! The lady was very sorry for any inconvenience.

My main hunting rifle has a Vari X-III in a 3.5-10x40 that was bought in 1993, and it's never had a problem. But I'd take a new VX III over it any day. They made some big improvements and like I said, the new VX II's are basically the same as my old Vari X-III.

Not with a VX III but with a 12x50 Olympic Wind River Bino's.
Sent them in 2 weeks ago for repair.  Yesterday, I received a brand new set of bino's.  I was shocked.
Be prepared for quite possibly a brand new scope.
I knew there was a reason why all of my optics were Leupy's.  :)

I have a VX-I on my rifle. I'm thinking of either upgrading (some day) to either a VX-III or a Zeiss Conquest. If I go to the VX-III will I see a significant increase in glass quality?
