Pink Fishing in Salt Question
« on: August 01, 2011, 09:41:32 PM »
I have pretty much just fished pinks in the rivers in the past and sometimes off a beach in the salt.  This year I'm going to go for them in a boat.  Humpy Hollow.  I'm wondering if there is a way to catch them without trolling?  I don't really enjoy troll fishing so does anyone ever just jig a pink buzz bomb or other?  What about jigging/mooching a herring?  I'd appreciate any ideas.  Thanks.  -

putt around looking for jumpers or locate them on the finder. cast and jig away.

I would have to agree, find the jumpers and then fish with pink jigs, buzz bombs would work also..

we used to troll for them but if we were pulled up and going somewhere else and found some jumpers we would stop and cast for them and do very well...

Or just drift along and throw a pink buzz bumb.  It works fine when they are in thick and up on the top.

I have had good luck with pink buzz bombs and jigs. Also, if you do some trolling keep a rod rigged with a jig or bomb for "followers" that follow you hooked humpy to the surface. I have caught them as deep as 150 feet on riggers and jigs in the same areas you mentioned.

i usually motor a few miles against the current right off a beach (like 20 feet beyond casting range), and then just drift untill i find a school. when i hook one, i turn the boat around and drift back through the school. ive limited out in less than an hour. pink buzzbombs of course, but if you put on a white dart or green/white buzzbomb you probably would have a shot at some silvers
catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

I smoke two fish in the morning, I smoke two fish at night, I smoke two fish in de afternoon makes me feel alright
