Eastsider wants to go westside for opener. Tips or advice?
« on: July 25, 2011, 04:32:24 PM »
Was tossing around the idea of going, but do not know much about the westside or where to go (never hunted over there).  I am getting an itchy trigger finger and want to put one in the dirt. Since nothing opens till mid august and september.  Any one going or have ideas?  Looked on google earth around mt. baker, which looks like a hell of hike and even more hell of a drive from spokane.  Any ideas or pointers would be appreciated.  Any other Eastsiders going?

If it looks fishy, fish it. If it doesn't look fishy, fish it anyway!

Since it's under the bear hunting page, I'm guessing bear. :dunno:

How long are you coming over to hunt for?  Are you coming by yourself?

Not sure and Not sure.  I work for myself and can take as many days as I need and I do not think anyone I know can get off of work for more than 2 days, and I was thinking of staying 4 or more.  Depending on the terrain, I might bring a youth with me.  But not 100% sure yet.

Why don't you go near Wenatchee ? East Cascade units open Aug 1st. I'm thinking of going there myself.

What?  All the bears at Lost Lake all gone, you have to go so far away from home?
Of sorrow and sickness I've known on my way,
But I'm old and I'm nervis,
I'm cast from the Service,
And all I deserve is a shillin' a day.

Have a spot just west of stevens pass were there are quite a few with gated roads to access good clearcuts. I wanted to go this year but my typical hunting buddy cant go. Your welcome to tag along. I'd just go by myself but with so many bear in the area my wife feels more comfortable with me going with someone else. Last year we saw what looked to be a 400 plus pound bear during off season hiking in the area. Saw the same bear 2 years prior in the same general area. Its a long but easy pack out though and too much to pack by myself. No reason not to tag out in 2 days. PM me if your interested.

Now being serious. . .did you ever find somewhere to go? Just wondering. . . I could just call you and ask but I wanted to be cool like you and my hubby and comment like this first then talk for an hour on the phone about it! LOL! Anyways. . .I KNOW that you have not gone yet just wondering when I need to put my time off in at work so I can go too. . . . . . . .BILL A BEAR!!! *Bill sits up and looks out the window like a puppy dog saw a steak fly by* . . . .I dont want to miss a good story like this, so I have to go.

Just get out there and shoot one of those pretty colored little bears
