Toyota v.s. Ford

I get 18mpg with my Diesel around town. On road trips it stretches out to 22-24mpg. Let's see what a Toyota does with 10k on a trailer over the pass.

JEEPASAURUSREX aint tryin to crack heads here dude, the best truck i ever owned was a 76 f250 factory high boy with a 390, great dependable truck but once i got married and had kids i couldnt afford to drive her anymore and i have been a toyota man ever since, but that mpg that you get towing that heavy weight is pretty awesome i doubt my tundra could get that, but i will still take my truck and the reliability

You can just let the wind take those toys, and not even turn on the engine because they can't pull stuff worth S@#T  Isn't that the point of a truck 

No way, man.  It's for lifting up so high you can't use the bed anymore without slipping a disk, and it's for sticking every piece of crap chrome thing imaginable onto.  Oh, and also hanging TruckNutz on to show how tough it is.  How can you see the TruckNutz if you're pulling a trailer?  Sheesh...

Some pretty funny arguments in here, for all out pulling the Ford would be my last choice, dodge or Chevy would be first and second choices. For running around in the mountains I'll take my Toyota tacoma over any of them, 15+mpg average in 4wd and seemingly climbs anything with enough space for it to fit. For that matter I still average 19mpg pulling my boat with it.

@jeepasaurasrex, the only reason so many Fords are used as service vehicles is that they are the cheapest.

Ford is the top seller due to their cheap price, that is just called smart marketing! Believe what you like but for some strange reason more mechanics drive chevys and toyotas than anything else (honda is a close runner up), myself included. Have a look at resale value on toyota vs ford if you really want to find out how good they are. How many 300k+ toyotas are around? TONS! How many 300k+ fords are around? "crickets"

Oh, I've seen a bunch of that on Fords, too...

Full disclosure - I have a bone-stock F250 4x4 w/6.0 diesel and love it.  Great mileage, great pulling power (won't win races, but I guarantee it gets there) and contrary to popular opinion, very reliable.
