a few questions

just looking for some help/pointers on sighting in my bow and making the proper adjustments with my pins. ive been having a bit of a hard time getting my pins set for anything further than 30 yards so far. i just cant seem to get it. any pointers please throw them at me!

also, ive been looking at the montec g5 125gr. broadheads. any different suggestions or reviews on them. everything ive read so far has been pretty positive. also any suggestions on a solid arrow? i will be bow hunting for elk and have been getting really comfortable shooting from 30 yards and in but gonna be hitting it hard with my actual arrows and broadheads this weekend until opening day.

i have montec's and love them put them into the foam probably 1000 times now and 1 min on the stone they are ready to drop anything..

I have always shot beman ICS hunters and had great luck. As far as sighting in your bow, make sure you are moving your pins towards the point of impact (IE if the arrows are low, move the pin down a little bit and this should move your arrows up). From there, the pins should all be perfectly in line with one another provided your rest is where it needs to be.

make sure all fasteners are tight and that your form is decent: sometimes form can cause problems past 30 that aren't noticeable at short distances. Trust me, I have had A LOT of help from the more experienced archers at the range.

I've used the Montec 125's the last couple years and they performed flawlessly on 2 elk, a deer, and a bear.  I use them with Easton FMJ arrows.  Great combo!

Need more information. What's happening past 30 yards. Could be a number of things other than just pins.

the arrows seem to be drifting to my left a couple inches once i get out a bit further. could this just be more of a form issue or not getting the bow totally leveled off before releasing? that is the main thing ive been noticing so far. most of my shooting has been concentrated on under 30 yards due to space where i shoot.

ive been meaning on and plan on joining up at skookum archers, just havent gotten my a$$ out there yet. thanks for the offer, i may take you up on that once i find time to get out there! my buddy that was supposed to be helping me learn got a new job and is getting shipped to nevada for a few months after just getting back from pomeroy so now im kinda SOL haha.

i shoot at skookum all the time. you may have to walk back tune your bow to get it right. you can youtube how to do that and it may help alot. but you need a pretty good size target to do it properly in my opinion. easy to do at the range. im not working so just pm me when your gonna go and ill try to meet with yah there.

As far as your pins are concerned, I'm not sure what you're saying. Is it that there's no more room lower on the site beyond 30 yards? Or is it that you're unable to hit anything accurately over 30 yards? If the first option is what's happening, a simple adjustment down of your peep will give you more room for longer range pins. If its your accuracy, you may need someone to watch your form.

G5s rock. The blades are sturdy, easy to bring back an edge on, and cheap to replace. I shoot Beaman ICS Hunters and I tear a lot of fletchings in the bullseye every day. I also have some of the Cabela's stalker extremes in my quiver. They're not as tight a tolerance, but at anything under 40 yards, the difference is negligible.

You just need to do a little tuning. If you do not get it tuned right, when you put your G5's on things will get even worse. Not due to the G5's (they are great) but due to the arrow starting out wrong and the broad heads steering them even more off course.

The tuning guide is fantastic and will help you get your bow shooting really nice

At 30 yards your bubble would have to be off by quite a bit to see much difference.  Broadheads tend to magnify small tuning problems.  I suspect a small adjustment to your rest is about all that is needed.  Worst case scenario is an arrow spine issue where you would need to increase or decrease poundage.

I'd simply make the time to meet with Bloodhound.  Sounds like he'd save you a lot of time and headache in the end.
