to keep with the 4x4 thread .....heres a big 4 I tried to get last year
I hate to tell you guys this but here in washington we call those bucks 3X3's. Just because the game dept. calls them 4x4's it's not. 4X4 is 4 points on the main beam.
Shot my first deer at age 14 in 121, 32 years ago. My family settled in the Bluecreek area north of Chewelah in the 1800's. And that's the way you count them. Great, great grandpa to my great grandpa to my grandpa to my Dad to me and to my kids. You count the points on the main beams. NOT THE EYE GUARDS. It's funny that all the people who hunted with called it that way. And yes, as far as score, all points. Back East all points. But not here in Washington.
The main beam is above the eye guard. Us local boy's know this. If you didn't have a Washington home grown person showing you the way, you wouldn't know.
