Banned Black Nocks?

I am changing the color of my Bohning Blazers to black and, of course, am also changing my Easton Super Nocks to black as well. When I was placing my order, there was a notice stating black nocks could not be shipped to Japan or the European Union.

Does anyone know what that’s about?

Are they afraid of toxic chemicals in black nocks?

I think bowhunting is illegal in most of Europe.  So maybe they don't allow the parts to do it either.  Dunno.

Maybe the legislators there are all 3D archers and don't like guys who use black nocks.    I used them one round until AlwHine let me know that it was rude, so I switched to florescent orange and he broke them all in one round.

I think bow hunting is actually legal in most areas of Europe…if you have the money.

Yeah, I have a few all black nijna arrows for those damn nock hunters in my 3-D group.

Now if you just have a couple ninja arrows in your quiver, that is rude! and not allowed with some archery orginization (to have multipal colored arrows that is)

Just kidding about the rude part.  I did have someone complain quite profusely about another guy in our group at worlds one time, though.  I like a blank target with all black nocks rather than a bunch of florescent a little low.  Mine are bright, and generally not good enough to aim at.

How is a guy suppose to score better than his other 3-d buddies if he keeps marking the x-ring with some bright a** floresent nocks. I use to use white wrapped arrows with 3 red blazers and flo-green nocks. This year it was 2 black and 1 red blazer with a black nock and you could just make out the backside of the one red blazer, but next year I will be sporting the "Ninja arrows" like mtbiker says.

I shot 3 black x2's with a chart nock. That nock left about the most perfect aiming point. I too will be ninja status this year...

Unless you want to shoot the 3d target in the ass or want to shoot a tree behind the target, no use aiming at my nocks.

Weird about the black nocks.  I can't imagine that if the governing body of 3d shoots in Europe don't want them that the EU (or individual governments) would make them illegal.  Must be another reason.  What do they have against Ninjas anyway?  I hope that if you're using black nocks your arrows are as thick as your wrist, like in the movies.  You should be able to hit stuff running at 200 yards with a longbow if you're using black arrows, too.

I have a scenario for you ninja shooters.. LOL

It is target 32 of a 40 target course and have a mulligan, you are still clean and with only 8 target to go there is a legitimate chance at cleaning this course ( a feat not many accomplish)
Target 32 is a 36 yard rising boar in the shade. You guessed it at 33 and saw your arrow impacted slightly low. You think it is in the ten ring but might be on the outside of the line.. you want to take your mulligan but heard rumors of a really steep long shot towards the end of the course...
Do you use your mulligan or risk walking up and finding out its an 8?

Seeing the end of your arrow at an angled shot (i.e. rising shot) won't help you in determining a line licker or very close to.  You need to see the shaft.  I've had a few shots with my all orange vanes where I glassed the target post shot and thought for sure I was just in or cut the line.  Got up to the target and I was out an inch or two.  The converse has also been true.

I would also assert that I've inadvertently help out my competition many times by shooting first or second and providing them a wonderfully bright reference point.  Haha, use the orange arrow and I'm a great guy, use the ninja and I'm an a-hole (all in jest, of course).  And I've taken advantage of the same thing, "the X is 1" right of Bob's arrow.  Thanks Bob! hehe."

My only concern about using ninja arrows if you miss the target.  Good luck finding that.  Especially, if the target is in or backed by thick, nasty brush.

Yeah, I rather agree, though I'm guilty of buying them.  Especially, if I'm going into a shoot with low confidence.  I kinda wished they weren't offered ....well, kinda.

Most clubs, (including mine) offer them as another way to raise money for the clubs... so I buy them also... somedays I wish I could buy a couple of extra!

I agree on the mulligans, but if they offer them and you are wanting to compete you better get them..

This is my issue with the black nocks.. They will NEVER help you gain 1 point, they are simply to try and slow down other shooters in your group.
I like to win by opening a can with my shooting... Not by opening a can on everyone elses shooting ;-)
Besides if you do want to mess your buddies up just do it mentally, it is MUCH more effective

I just wanted to let everyone know, I received my “ninja” black nocks and Blazer vanes.

Over forty years I have been shooting the brightest color schemes I could come up with. First, those colors were an effort to find the strays in the weeds. Then, I reasoned they were to better see my target impacts.

An unintended consequence of choosing black (I got tired of scrubbing them clean) is I can’t see the things at all once they have left the bow! I don’t know about anyone else but quite often I have to struggle against the impulse to watch where the arrow is going before it hits the target. This promotes the NASTY habit of allowing the bow arm to drop.

Now, since I can’t see them until I walk up on the target or look through magnification, there is no temptation to try and follow the flight.
Imagine that!
