finally got out in the woods today
« on: August 07, 2011, 12:32:16 AM »
well I finally got out in the woods today was hunt at about 3600 ft and there were berries everywhere just non of them were ripe didn't even see any  tracks kinda disappointing but I think it will be a good spot if the berries ever ripen. There was still snow up there pretty deep in spots. called for a while but nothing...seems like they are lower but I'm a newbie to bear hunting so  :dunno:

Hunted friday evening and saturday morning near granite falls, wa.  did not see or hear a darn thing.  got to piss some blue jays off and rile things up with my new foxpro firestorm.  i found the same thing very few berries ready most are still blossoming and the rest have green nubs.  looks like it will be the end of the month before things get ripe.  i even ran accross a couple of ladies attempting to find blackberries with empty buckets.  it is a beautiful area and i took a side trip up half of the mountain loop hwy.  looks like a nice spot to camp next to the river and do some fishing.  i am camping near mt adams the end of the month and if anybody has an line of areas to hunt sent me a PM.  one of the things we usually do is pick huckleberries down there in the Indian Heaven wilderness so i know there are a lot of berry patches.

I was down in Indian Heaven last year...NO BERRIES.  well, shouldn't say "no" berries, but few and far between.  No fresh bear stuff anywhere.  Of course, there were people all over down there, so that may have also influenced the situation as well...

Of sorrow and sickness I've known on my way,
But I'm old and I'm nervis,
I'm cast from the Service,
And all I deserve is a shillin' a day.
