Confused about Orange
« on: August 19, 2011, 03:20:18 PM »
Okay, heading out for my first bear hunt and I am confused regarding the Hunters Orange requirement. The regulation seems to be that I do NOT have to wear the orange, but also kinda seems like I do... Do I or don't I?

Thanks!!!

No orange unless you are hunting during an overlap of a big game season where orange is required. Example, during modern firearm deer, you need orange. During Sept Archery you do not.

Make sure to check ALL special tag/ permits in the regs........ran into a master hunter out on a cow elk hunt in the teanaway on opening day and we had no clu there was a modern rifle season for deer or elk  in AUGUST. Seem s pretty dumb to me.....an elk hunt in eastern washington in august is just asking to waste an animal cuz you cant get it cooled fast enough.  :twocents:

Good luck.

I always bring my canister of liquid nitrogen to cool the meat for my August hunts    :chuckle:

Not all modern big game seasons: only deer or elk.

I carry some in my pack, during bear. Specifically if I have to go into thick brush, I will put some one, so I dont get popped by someone not sure of their target.

I wear it because I'd rather not have any issues with other hunters or LEO's...

I like that idea.

That is my thought. I even wear it while I'm grouse hunting.
Just one more day
