Trouble sleeping.
« on: August 07, 2011, 10:34:41 PM »
Bear season does not start down here until Sat.  Its gonna be a long week waiting for Friday night.  Looks like its gonna be too hot to shoot one unless its right next to the road but Im going to go anyways just to get out there and look around.

So tonight to pass the time and because I skipped dinner I just fried up some rabbit hearts and livers with mushrooms.  MMmmmm so good.  :chuckle:

Weather looks cooler than it was forecast earlier.   :IBCOOL:  Good luck this weekend for anyone that finally gets to go out.  Take a lot of pictures.

We camped out and went out early this AM, only to be socked in with heavy fog and wind. It sucked! We were freezing (this is mid-August, not October!) and couldn't see anything.

Didnt see another hunter.  Unfortunately I didnt see any bears or bear sign all weekend.  Last year this area was full of bear sign and this year not even any old sign.   :dunno:  Just when I think Im on to them.  :'(  Oh well.

Put on more miles than I can count between the mountain bike and the boots.  My legs are shot.  :chuckle:  Kept bumping into elk though so that is good.

Things are a little behind schedule this year, maybe they will be there soon. How were the berries/other food sources looking? What were they eating there last year? Keep after them its only a matter of time.

Last year the berries were terrible and shriveled up and the bear were tearing apart logs and stumps to get at the ants.  This year there were not very good either but better than last year.  I saw wild strawberries, on almost every old logging road to.  Just no bear showing up to eat any of them.
