berrys??

my buddy was working up at N. Cascades NP last week and said that there were ripe berrys and they saw bears feeding, is anyone else seeing this? how about down around rainier? i thought it would be early yet for the berries to be ripe..

What I've seen in Snohomish and Skagit Counties...
Black berries aren't ripe yet, except for the wild ones on the ground in a few places. Salmon berries are already done for the most part. Blue berries are ripe right now, in fact I ate a few while hunting today. Saw what I think were choke cherries and elder berries today that aren't even close to ripe yet. Thimble berries are anywhere from ripe to done depending on location.

I was in skagit sat. at about 4000ft and there weren't any blueberries ripe (some not ripe but not alot at all)
didn't see any berries ripe or and bears...

I know that certain places have ripe blueberrys and i have seen quite a few ripe strawberries (all in snohomish and skagit county). The salmon berries are starting to get over with same with some other berries that I have no clue what they are but they taste good. I have some wild black berries at my house that are ripe, but besides that the black berries are green and sour There is a kind of rasberry that is yellow, but hard to find, but they are ripe right know.

I think it really depends on altitude.  At home, 1000ft, huckleberries are ripe, salmon berries are done and blueberries are ripe or almost.  Yesterday I was South of Rainier at about 5000ft and nothing is even close.  Blueberries are green and barely the size of BB's and no huckleberries.  There was still snow in places so everything is really late higher up.  No bear sign where we usually see lots.

From my scouting trip last weekend, no berries east of Rainier area in the 5,000 - 6,000 ft level yet.  Next couple weeks hopefully.

I was at 4000 and I only saw 2 really old piles of poo. no tracks no fresh poo and no ripe berries....good luck to ya though highcountryhunter88
