What do you do when...?
« on: August 10, 2011, 05:16:27 PM »
So what do you guys do if you call in a yip dog while calling for bears? Do you shoot or pass? I havent been out yet this year but was just thinking about it.  I hate those damn things so much I dont think I could pass but then again I want to kill a bear.

I just end up shooting them with a larger bullet than I normally would.  But I have zero self control.   :chuckle: :chuckle:

What do you do with the coyote after you shoot it?  Do you just leave it or atually skin it out and keep the hide?  I've thought about hunting coyote in the off season but was not sure what to do with them.

Depends on how bad you want a bear. That will end that call session. Shoot coyotes when hunting coyotes. Shoot bears when hunting bears.  :twocents:

I have very little self control when it comes to having the opportunity to shoot something :chuckle:.  I simply figure that is better to come home with a story of shooting a yote than coming back empty handed.  As for do i skin it for the hide of simply leave it...all depends on how much damage my .325 WSM does to it  :chuckle:

Of sorrow and sickness I've known on my way,
But I'm old and I'm nervis,
I'm cast from the Service,
And all I deserve is a shillin' a day.

If I was wanting to kill a bear, I wouldn't shoot a coyote. I figure I can shoot coyotes all year long whenever I want. I don't shoot them deer hunting either. I will a few days into a deer season if it's a good opportunity to kill one but I won't take any risky low percentage shots...no sense in ruining a deer spot by slinging lead and missing a coyote that will be blown to hell anyway on the off chance I do hit it.
