You would have to check regs if area is open by Indian Heaven by Mt. Adams is fairly nice open county in spots with some big timber.  Lots of Huckleberry patches.  I am planning on hunting there or near there depending on what is open the end of this month.  Area is unique in that it sort of straddles the Cascades and in a short drive you go from conifer to more pine type forests.  I can't say if they are ripe there by everytime we go in August we pick a lot of berries

578 is open now. Everything east of that will open on Saturday. You don't want to go that way though. I will be in either Adams or Indian Heaven (can't decide) and don't need to be competing with a caller of your caliber Rick.  :P

That make two of us.  :chuckle:  If I was comfortable shooting them in the ass while their running away from me I would have a room full of them by now.  :chuckle:  I feel I'm getting closer to figuring them out, just haven't put one in the dirt yet.

I would not say Indian Heavens is very open.  There are lots of open meadows in there though.  Lots of small lakes and ponds.  If you end up going take the bug spray.  And lots of hikers near the trails.  It is one of my favorite places.  Just do a google image search for "Indian Heaven Wilderness" and you will see what I mean.

You could go a little farther east around trout lake.  It starts to open up a bit that way.
