would it be legal to have a rifle on my back on a motorcycle if it was unloaded and had the ammo in a pack or something?

I don't see why not either but I don't want trouble and pistol open carrying is legal anyway I  know that but wasn't sure on long guns and I don't have a concealed carry permit yet.

It is leagal as long as it is not loaded.  Depending on the bike you have and the ability to mount accessories to it, you should look at a scabbard / gun boot.

I think you should get a sidecar, that would be cool. You could then put goggles on your dog and let him ride in it.

I like the scabbord idea. Secure and lockable.

I have the 6.0 gun boot with the 4.0 mounting bracket.  It is mounted to my Yamaha xt250.  I love it.  I also have an aftermarket rack on the back.

Here is the link to Kolpin.

I can post a picture of my bike later if someone wants to see it.

cool thats what I thought but I wasn't sure. I have a '01 ninja so not great for mounting things to.
I would like to get a mount but the reason I am riding instead of driving my truck is my wife doesn't have a job right now and money is tight so I can go driving a hr away in my fullsize truck that sucks the gas so I don't have money for a mount.

H20hunter I have though about a side car for my next bike if I could get my dog to where googles it would be awesome I have a english bulldog and he would cool in a side car. :IBCOOL:

I have strapped cased rifles to my handlebars on several occasions and run down I-405.  No different than a car as far as the law goes.
