single pin vs multi pin sight(What sight are you using???)

I would probably do 30, but you would want to practice your other yardages lots, and know what your raise and drop is at other yardages...
I know a few that do this, not my cup of tea but it can work...

Used a single pin for years hunting all over the states without any problems.  Switched to the 7 pin SH because I didn't like the way the Hoyt Tech riser fit with the slider.  Got the worst case of target panic ever!!  I now shoot the Tru-Ball Axcel 5 pin set 30 to 70 on one bow and the same sight mounted to a Sure-Lok Leathal weapon slider on the other.  Much less issue with TP using the five pins.

If you go single pin make sure you practice 10 to 20 yard hold over and under shots.  When you're at full draw and that bull of a lifetime catches you at 35, 40 or 45 yards when your set for 30 you'll be happy you did.  I always had mine set for 30 but took a good number of animals at 40+ with full confidence without moving the sight.  I was lucky the top of my bubble was exactly 50.

I shoot a 5 pin vertical trophy taker or trophy ridge, cant ever remember. But I love it.  I'll never shoot another horizontal pin sight again

Ive shot Spot-Hogg for a long time....before they were sold in catalogs and had to be ordered direct.  Mine are 5 pin ( I have 3 plus two extra pins guards with pins ), no wraps ( didnt have them back then ), Ive changed the fiber optics  a time or two, but still find these sights to be excellent.

SO Campmeat, if I were you, Id try using that site with a single pin dead center of the pin guard, set for 30 yards......I play with the idea alot, and have a single pin set up I use, and for me, I practice by using six o'clock and 12 o'clock holds to see what I have there.  It varies by set up specifics, but usually is a decent starting point.  I havent been able to commit to it as of yet, still opting for 5 pins....
