Calling young bears
«
on:

Has anybody had luck calling in 1-2 year old bears early in the season. I've seen two this year and they didn't respond to calls at all.

Maybe they haven't been around long enough to know the sound means easy meal?

I would imagine the woods sounds like an outdoor orchestra with people blowing calls, don't take long before they figure things out

I have done more then my fair share of hunting with calls for bears. It has been very productive for me and my hunting partners. Here is my thoughts. The younger bears that have come to our calls take awhile to come in and I think moat of the young bears dont even come in at all. My two reasons of thinking this is because. 1: they are scared to show up and find out what is doing the killing. A lot of older boars will try to kill the younger bears given the chance. 2: the young bears have not been around ling enough to have probably killed very many prey animals to associate the distress sound with food and a meal.

Thanks for the replies, I guess I'll keep callin and hopefully a big bear comes in. I've only seen one bear that I actually called in and it was pretty intense, he was 500 yards out and when he heard my call he came charging in to eat!!
