Two weeks untill the special archery bull hunt opens! Just curious to hear, if you had the same tag, what would you hold out for????? Hate to pass up any archery opportunity, but also know this may be the chance of a lifetime! Those who know the area, what are your thoughts!

been in the Wenaha many times, me personally wouldn't release an arrow on anything smaller then 360. But who am I? you have the tag so if its a bull of a lifetime in your eyes then who cares what anyone else thinks. GOOD LUCK!

I agree! The trophy is in YOUR eyes, not ours. At least that's my opinion. I've been in there many times also and there are some BEASTS to be had. However, I'll be the first to admit, I'd have a hard time letting a 320 class bull walk. Mostly because I've never harvested a bull that big before and would be tickled pink!!

Have a blast, enjoy the fact that you can chase big bulls in there, and take a bull that you feel you'd be happy with.

I agree with 3arrows it does have big bulls but its all what you want and what you think is  a trophy! i would say 340-350 i had the tag in 2005 and shoot a 366! but dont get caught up in the score set a goal for yourself and make it a hunt of a lifetime...... goodluck and post lots of pics! im leaving to new mexico to hunt 16a in 2 weeks if i kill i will post pics! have fun and be safe!

It's just a number.
If it feels right, release.
If it doesn't, don't.
Some of the best bulls I have harvested came because I chose not to in the previous days.
Some of the best tag soup came because I didn't but they were great hunts.  Had my opportunities to notch, chose to hold out.
Do the tag the most justice you can, hunt hard, have fun, which we know you will, and you will bring home a bull of your lifetime.
Because you got a tag of your lifetime.   :chuckle:

Thanks for the input, they all look pretty impressive at 20 yards when your heart is pounding in your ears! My only other bull has been a 2x2, anything with 6 on a side will be a true trophy for me. My brother has a partnership tag with me, should be the time of our lives. We will post pictures when we get them. Love to see those 16A pics as well. Good luck to all!

Should have many to choose from like I did in 2009.  Shot the first one I saw on opening day.  Went 314,  looked pretting big that day and still does on the wall.  Someone will always get one bigger, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  I will never get one bigger unless I draw that tag again and  hold out until the second day. Have a great time!

The hard part in the wenaha is being able to let those 300-320 satelite bulls walk. You should have the hunt of a lifetime so don't cut it short, if you hunt hard and are in shape you will get another chance at those type of bulls. I always recommend down there to hold out for a 350 type bull for a few days so you get a chance to see what is there and then decide after that what it will take to make you happy. Bow season starts early there and it gets better the later you go(from the tenth on) Enjoy your hunt and good luck.nwhunter
