setting up a practice area

i am going to be setting up a archery practice area in my yard, I have an acre and no laws that prevent it.  My question is this, Where I have to put it is on a bit of a slope.  The area where my target will be is about 3 feet higher than the shooting position for the 40 yard point.  Is this going to cause any problems for me that you guys can think of?

old carpet and a few 2x4's makes a great backstop if you need one

I have heard that before, I think that is going to be my final layer of protection before it hits the shed.  I should be able to practice out to about 60 yards, that is if I can ever get good enough to hit the target out that far.

Been there and done that.  I do just fine until the daughters start shooting for the year.  So far I only have 2 holes in the house with no windows hit.  Luckily I built a concrete house that a .50 cal wouldn't get through.  I've got about 125 yards before the hill slopes away to not be able to see the target, and I've tried it all.  Big backstop is key!

make sure the carpet is kinda loose and just hangs, first time i did it I had it stretched to tight and did a test fire blew right through then moved everything and loosened it up and now it stops it

mine is set up and if i shoot from the middle of the street i can get a fifty yard shot. my back stop is a tree and a fence. the tree works really well as is took me about a half an hour the other night to dig my arrow out. all it took was one little shake at 50 yards and went a little low .

Make it fun. add a few challenging shots around and over things.  I also added a few games to my practice area. Fishing bobbers swinging from fishing line, a penny glued to a string.  its a great distraction from getting bored just shooting at a stationary target.

Good ideas, My shed is 10 feet wide on that side, so that will be my ocrap stop.  The area i am going to use is about 30 yards wide with rows of trees on both sides, so I should be able to practive from some really good angles.
