Quick 204 question
« on: August 23, 2011, 09:50:45 PM »
I've got the chance to hunt the late archery season this year on private property out of Tonasket. About a thirty minute drive out of town. The landowner is not a hunter but says there are a lot of "deer" on his land (not sure if they are MD or WT) I guess his property is around 3K plus feet in elevation.

Assuming there are WT on his property would they stick around at that elevation for the rut?

Every deer that I have seen near Tonasket have been Mullies  :dunno:

There are no deer in 204....
But like someone else said, the bucks will be with the does, there is also no guarantee that you will have snow, or if you do if there will be enough to have an effect.
Which way out of tonasket? pm me if you want..

The property is about 11 miles south of Bonaparte mtn, and east of the highway so I believe that is 204 but I need to take a look at maps/regs to verify

Aeneas valley area sounds like (or really close). Whitey area (if there were any deer over there), lots of private land.

A good chunk of private land in the Aeneas Valley could be an excellent hunting spot for sure. You will certainly want to make sure you KNOW where the property lines are, some folks over there do not like visitors. Good luck, should be mostly white tails but a mule deer would not be out of the question. Remember each species has its own rules and season.

Lotsa Forest Circus land too, alot. Don't stick to the private land either. It might increase your chances if you hunt it all.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

OK, this guy doesnt have a cell phone and doesnt have the internet so I am getting bits and pieces of info on where his land is. Last report I have is the land is "5 miles as the crow flies from Bonaparte Lake" which puts it right on the border of 101 and 204. Looks like Toroda Crk is the border of 204 and 101, the land is right in there somewhere.

From what I have heard so far it is looking pretty damn good. Will head up there in Oct and get a "tour" of his property and place some cams out.

The property I hunt is on the border of 204 and 101. If you are down low you will definately have whitetail. Any elevation at all and it's more than likely going to be mule dear. We have the mule dear and 2 sections below us are all whitetail. Very rairly see them mixing.
