A reminder to 2nd deer tag holders
« on: August 24, 2011, 04:11:40 PM »
Buy your license/tag before Sept 1st. It goes from $24 to $66. In WDFW's infinite wisdom they didn't post the new cost for 2nd deer. Perhaps trying to slip it by. Had to get on the horn with them.

What the Heck is that crap all about. Thanks for the heads up. I don't want to give Governor Gargoyle any more money than I have to. :bash:

So it did go up? Figures. Funny how they didn't include it in their list of license fees that were to change as of September 1st.   :bash:

First they slip in antlerless only on our island second deer tags, now they want $66 for a deer that will provide 20-30 pounds of meat?  Absolutely assinine!

I hunt for the meat, yeah antlers are cool too, but for $2 to $3 a pound and less time butchering, and not having to have more freezer space, cow burger and turkey polish sausage are looking pretty good.

Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for the heads up got one for Gmu 204 and don't want to spend an extra leg just to get a doe! About ready to quit hunting this state and hunt in a good state every other year probably cost about the same and have better odds of getting an animal :o

I can tell you this- I will not be applying for a 2nd deer tag hunt next year, and I probably won't be the only one not willing to spend that kind of money to shoot a doe. Oh, well, maybe they'll do away with the 2nd deer tags. I don't agree with it anyway. I don't think we have enough excess deer for people to be killing two a year.

Big Yup there. Glad I drew it now. Can take my app fee and overpriced milkbag tag and apply it towards OR elk next time. It's almost as if they gave me a pat on the butt and pushed me across the border. Should thank them!

did you also notice that special apps for the quality hunts are going up to $13.20 versus $6.00 for a regular hunt.

Quality special apps are going up to 13.20?!! CRAZY! Why spend that much for no chance at drawing. Hunting is sure becoming a rich mans sport and not a working mans sport.

Actually I don't mind the increase for quality permit applications. I'm thinking it might improve odds slightly.

I bought mine last week and I too am glad I drew this year. With the price of fuel, the tag, and required licenses, it will be cheaper from here on out to buy beef. I can go spend a week at our cabin in  unit 204, feed the deer some apples, get some great cam pics and spend the days fishing, while the butcher does his work on the freezer meat. Most likely only tags I will put in for next year will be late buck and whatever the kids want a shot at.

Bought my 2nd deer tag last night to avoid the fee increase. Was talking with the young lady and told her with the fee increases she should be seeing some pretty upset hunters and fishermen when they realize the cost to play went up and they didn't know it. She was saying that it is amazing how people yell at the sales staff about the increase and they had nothing to do with the price increase. I told her good luck with some of the furious people.

I don't see anything about 2nd bear tag. I assume it is the same as a single bear tag only?

there is no single bear tag offering that is the second tag you seem to have to buy bear and cougar or bear and something else  :dunno: at least thats how I read it

Well, since I'm gonna go shoot me a baby bear this evening I'll need the 2nd tag anyway for the big bear later on.

The 2nd deer tag fee wasn't included in the list. That's what we were talking about previously in this thread.

I had to warn my hunting group of this yesterday morning so that we all can avoid the price gouge.  I would have been ok with a small increase like everything else, but damn near trippling the price??  That's ridiculous.  Told my old man I'm not wasting money applying for that one next year.  Doesn't seem to be much logic behind this increase.   :twocents:

I hope this proves true!  I haven't been able to draw a doe tag since they changed the rules and let everyone into the draw with all their points for a measly $6.50.  Maybe I'll be able to get one next year.  I'll gladly pay the extra to get to hunt more days.

Anyone know what the second deer tags are going to cost for youth and disabled?

And, can I buy an archery deer tag and put in for 2nd deer modern firearm or do both weapon choices have to match?

DoubleJ- Look on page 24 of the regulations:

"The second tag must be the same weapon choice as your first tag. You may hunt only with the hunting method in compliance with your tag."

I'd like to put in for the 2nd deer draw though.  But, pointless since I've never been to the areas.  I guess I could start a "I got drawn but can't scout, give me your honey hole" thread if I get drawn.  :chuckle:

You've got plenty of time to figure out where to apply and for scouting since the apps for 2012 won't be out until next spring....   ;)
