Bear hunt recap...I have seen the beast.
« on: August 24, 2011, 09:58:53 PM »
Hunted up in an area I was introduced to. A buddy who shall remain namless, he knows who he is, saw a bear a bit ago in the same place. He said it was small but hey, I'm willing to take a look. We hunted last week, no bear to be seen. I get up there and am all comfy on my rock, butt pad in place, rifle and sticks at the ready. On and off I hear a little ruckus in the timber that has to be a deer or bear. Doesn't take to long and little bear pops he head up and kind of looks around. We are about 150 yards apart and even in the scope he looks small. I was expecting momma to make an appearance. However, he just kind of sneaked along in and out of the brush. I'd see a head here, a butt there. I knew he was small but sill had the safety off and rifle on the sticks. After a bit he decided it wasn't his night to venture into the cut and slinked off into the timber. I did get a good look as he was heading off but no shot opp. Granted, he was a little bear and if I had gotten a good broadside shot chance instead of his little head poking out I probably would have let him have it since this is the first bear I've seen while actually hunting the little buggers. So, no bear. Good hunt, very exciting, just no bear.

I'm with you man...no problems shooting boo boo. The way I see it, that's why they give us 2 tags... Oh yeah...congrats on at least seeing one, still waiting on that day myself.

Good read Waterman.  Been out above Baker Lake....pretty country but don't waste your time.

Been spending more time at my gun bench & at the range.  I need counseling eh? Better than being a couch potato.

If ya need a Podner that doesn't walk too fast, give me a holler.  I am a dedicated levergun hunter so you can have everything out past 200yds.....fair?
