I got this one in as a re-do from a different taxidermist. I could not re use the cape it was screwed to the antlers, epoxied into the form and I think he used contact cement for glue.

Was able to get the antlers off and get a new cape for him and this is the end result

Enjoy the pictures

Wow, that's a HUGE improvement.  The first one looks like I did it in the garage with an Elmer's glue stick and a form made out of a piece of firewood.  That thing was horrible.  It looks GREAT now, though.

Is huntergreg the guy that had that nightmare with the guy from Kittitas that went to North Bend or something like that?  I sort of remember that thread and feeling really sorry for the guy.

Yes I am about 95% positive that was the same thread. I understand the feeling completely.

Very nice.  That would be my nightmare. Working so hard to find a buck worth mounting and having someone screw up the mount. For that reason alone I have yet to have any shoulder mounts done (although I wish I would have on one). I am very picky and expect perfection for the money I pay. It wasn't untill I found this site that I saw taxi's with a true talent for what they do. I now know where I will take all my mounts to be and have no fear. Birds, bears, deer or whatever it may be, I have found that different taxi's excell in certain areas and they are all on this site.

Very nice work Joe, very nice.   One question for you. Is the cost of a redo the same, higher or lower then that of a new mount? Just curious.

Devin.

I charge 450.00 on a deer. Although there was some extra work to be done on this one I still only charged the 450.00.   Only extra that I had to charge was 75.00 for the extra cape. I paid 75.00 for it so I just recovered the money I had invested into it. If the cape could have been saved, and the form could have been used.  I would not have charged the 450.00 because I already had the form, I would have given that portion back to the customer. All re-dos are a case by case.

Great save Joe!  :IBCOOL: what a shame if that beautiful buck would have been destined for such disrespect.

Nice save Joe.
