I just wanted to say thank you to everyone and a special thank you to Greg, it takes a lot of trust for someone to turn their trophy over to a person. In my mind it takes even more trust after you have a bad experience. So Greg thank you for having the trust and confidence that I could make that mount look the way it is supposed to look.

Fantastic recovery there Joe that first picture is just scarey looking I would have had a hard time paying a guy for a deer that came out looking like that nice that you could bring it back to the luster it should have had to start with.

 I ended up paying the other taxi all the money up front. He messed up my elk euro mount also.

Nice re-do.  I would not have anyone take it to the first guy that did it.  He must be practicing the 1890's style of taxidermy. 
Thank goodness there are some good taxidermist on this site.

Well, you are right.  He screwed that up, no doubt about that.  Wow.  I thought I was a crappy taxidermist...  
So, Michelle's probably right.  He boiled the damn nose bones right off that sucker.  Wow.  That's a LOT of boiling.  I mean a LOT.  I have overboiled skulls before and never had the nose bones fall off.  I am talking put-that-puppy-in-the-boiling-water-and-leave-for-the-weekend overboiling...

...either that, or he dropped it....

Someone please confirm for me that this guy is out of business...

Pathfinder it depends on what type of chemicals were added to the water during the boiling process.  Some chemicals can degrade bones even more.
