You must not hunt hounds if you need to ask why Washington sucks in this category.  Can't hunt bear, lion, bobcat, coyotes and now took our pilot program away from us.  However, do you guys know that these timber companies are allowed a certain amount of depredation permits to allow hound hunters to come hunt their land where there is a lot of bear damage with the trees.  I hunted for Raynior up in forks and we slayed the bear.  I'm way off track with this site being about pups, but don't you think its b.s. that these people get to go in and kill all these bear before the general population that buys a hunting license can even think of going?  They should open for permit drawing for everybody that pays, I understand it has to be managed with just a few because in a few short years it would be a slaughter if they didn't, but I know of a few people this year with these permits this year and their numbers in kills are well into the doubles digits.  That is that many less bear you'll see roaming the woods now that we can finally hunt them boot hunting.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

Lol sorry for venting on your site wacoyotehunter, I guess my whole point is why can't this opportunity be available for everybody that pays.  I bet most people don't even know its even going on.  There is a lot of hound hunting for bear under the radar, and these guys don't just get to kill one.  On our permit up forks as soon as a bear was down we was calling and getting another permit issued.  I know the same guy hunts for weyerhauser every year, why does just he get to do it every year in my local area.  These are Washington state animals and we all pay every year to hunt them just the same.  Btw you have some good looking dogs in those pics.

You are confusing depredation hunting by an agent of the state for depredation purposes with sport hunting seasons, two completely different issues. That's as easily as I can explain the timber company hunts. The hound hunters do not get to keep the bear, they are turned over to the state because it's a depredation kill.
