Hey Biginner

If you jumped two separate coveys anywhere close to the Tri-Cities, you did very well.  We've lost so much good ground to development and fires in the last 40 years around here that finding one good covey is very special.  I have several places that I hunt fairly close that have a few birds and I treat them like gold!!  First rule...Tell no one!  Second rule...don't hit them too often and don't go for a limit, ever!  30 - 40 birds don't go a long way when you figure predators, other hunters, bad weather, or a long winter.  I've probably grown old, but any more, I love watching my dog do the hunting and if I manage a bird, I've made the day even more successful.  I was out one day late last year about 20 miles from home and managed a chuckar and bonus hun.  Lilly made great points on both coveys (at that point only 3 chukars and 6 huns left in each covey) and that made probably my best hunting day for the year.  It was pretty late in the season at that point, so I didn't hit that area again.  I haven't been up there looking yet, but hopefully the remaining birds had a good hatch this year.

lol  ya,  i did very well,.. unfortunately i've only seen chukars in areas you can't hunt.  lol  the areas i saw them were all developed,..  :'(  too bad,...  i go over to yakima canyon to look for chukar,..  its not too far for me.  and its a huge area,..   i wouild love to be able to get on some chukar in tri cities in areas i can actually hunt,..
i was helping my brother out building a couple of houses,.. and the chukars would come right up to us,...  :chuckle:
