Don't get me wrong, this is an incredible weapon and definately a keeper in my opinion.  Yes, it has a minor flaw but the mountain of pluses far outweigh the minor negative.  In modified form, it's safe and reliable in my opinion and I have zero problem taking it into the field hunting or to the range.  Worst case, I'll get Traditions to trade it out for a new one....AFTER hunting season.

Thought I was getting a whole new trigger assembly- instead they sent a different trigger. The notch for the spring is cut up higher so it puts more tension on the firing spring. It pops the caps fine but made trigger pull double what it was at already! Next I tried the heavier/larger firing spring they sent on another day. Same thing but impossible for my 13 year old to cock and trigger pull must be about 15 pounds! Not cool. Finally endended up doing the same as Navyrep1 did- removed the hammer antagonist spring. Will be another call to Traditions tomorrow!
RClare1223 -how did you get rid of the rib on the firing pin? I think that's the main problem as mine dents the caps way in but not a large enough contact area in my opinion. I'm very interested in your mod to the pin.

Ok so I have shot the gun about 30 times one mis-fire my cousin had 2 with his night the gun is very accurate I guess I got lucky and got one with a good spring. I think I lke the loose powder better than the pellets im shooting 100 grains with 245 powerbelts hit dead on a 150 yards and 2 inches to the left off of a lead sled that's good in my book for a muzzle loader I would still like to hear from people who are still having problems and.what kinds of loads you are using

I welded the end of the pin then machined it so it was solid across and made it just a hair bit longer.

pull your trigger out and remove the smaller of the 2 springs this will solve your problem.you will manualy have to put the hammer to half cock but its a simple fix.unfortunately i learned this after 2 very large mulies opening day :'(

so traditions said they would send me a new trigger Assembly all i got was a new trigger put it in and it did not make a difference i will call traditions tomorrow I'm sure they will just send me new springs that wont help. you can unscrew your nipple a little and then the gun fires but i don't want to have to worry about the nipple working its way out and the gun going off when you close it. i am just going to get it fixed i hope and get rid of it its nice light and way accurate but I'm tired of it I'm going back to a knight they fire every time.

OK they sent me a new trigger assembly with stiffer springs I fired off 30 caps ln the garage not one Miss fire problem fixed the firing pin hits the caps way harder now the only problem is the nipped gets way clogged up but I think its because I was just firing caps without any powder does anybody know if that will do that

Yup...just caps will foul the nipple pretty quickly.  When you shoot a real load there's plenty of back pressure to blow the crud and pretty well flatten the cap.  Glad to hear they finally sent you the right stuff.  I'm gonna wait until after the season to mess with it any more.  It works fine in my modified form but a new trigger assembly that works as designed would be great.  Did you have to tell them anything specific or ask for a specific partset?

Just tell them what the problem is the caps not going off because the pin isn't hitting it hard enough.

Bought one last year and the misfire issue still wasnt fixed - after four years? Wish I had seen this thread before.   Wont fire reliably with any musket caps.  :bash:

Try the 1081 RWS caps I've never had an issue (knock on wood) granted mine is only a couple years old.
