Is everybody bailing out of areas with road closures?  Seems to me I'm seeing a lot more activity in the RR unit this year.  I was up there last weekend finalizing some of my stand locations and I saw more than one wall tent already set up to "guard my spot."  Looked like someone just came up set the tent and left.  Plan to go up this weekend too and check trail cams. I'm sure there will be a lot more tents and campers dropped off this weekend   :bash:

Anybody else noticing more activity in RR this year versus previous years?

We have hunted the Bethel unit in years past but will be in the Rimrock this year...mostly 'cause my bro picked up a cow tag for the modern season. We have done some scouting earlier but won't be able to get back until around the same time as the high hunt. We will be in there for the modern season, evidently with a bunch of others looking for Elk.

I hope there is tons of guys in the RR this year during early archery elk season! Only because I am one of the lucky 11 people to be hunting the adjoining Cowiche unit. Maybe they will push all the big bulls over to me! :chuckle:

Yeah the more hunters the better.  Where I go in the Rimrock I never see anybody and the more hunters the better because they push all the elk up to me.  Or into the Cowiche :(

There is always a pile of hunters in rimrock!  I think it is worse during early archery than rifle season in the wenas!

It would be interesting to put a trail cam on one of the arterial roads up in the unit so it would snap a pic of every rig going by, then you could keep records and see how many vehicles there are on a year to year basis.  Interesting thought, although I am sure your cam would get destroyed and the legality is questionable.

I know the Little Naches seems to have a LOT more traffic this year than in the past.  With the road closures, I think every area past the LN campground will be slammed with Archery hunters in another 9 days  :bash:

And as we found out this weekend the OHV Ranger will be patroling those closures every day on Milk and Pine so even though there may be other ways in there you will most difinitley get a ticket! Be prepared if you attempt to venture in in a vehicle.

Anyone know what going on up in the manastash? like the previous posts, it seems everyone is changing hunting tactics based on road closures. all i know about the manastash is buck meadows is  washed out and so is gold/rock creek closer to 410. (this is according to the fish and game office in town)

Taneum road access, as well as manastash road access are both down.  Several closures up in the hills as well includeding I believe the access to frost/quarts mountain.  A lot of the area is blocked off until next spring.

I was back in RR this last weekend, and it is definitely going to be a ZOO.  I don't think there will be anywhere to get back and have an area to yourself, no matter how far you hike in!
