Where I came from we built tree stands with screws, nails, and lag bolts etc. we would use the stands year after year. It did not seem to kill or hurt the trees. We used screw in tree steps too. We never really gave it a second thought. I think it is a little bit over the top to think that a couple lag bolts in a tree will kill it. :twocents:

My dad had a small wood lot in Minnesota and we used screw in tree steps, we did not worry about it and I don't think we killed any trees.

I have a tree stand on a 5 acre piece I own. It is nailed in there with 8" spikes. It's been there for about 6 or 7 years. No problems so far.

Is there a law regarding this?

I can't speak to the law, but many timberland owners don't appreciate this as they have those nail, spikes, screws going through the saw mill, hazards for those working in timber, etc.  I will have to have someone else site a law.

I got a special permit to trap some coyotes and these  :mor: walk through.
Glad  there wasn't a coyote in the trap when they were there.

Here's a couple different people I had on one of my cams.  I'm curious if any of them tagged out in this area.  Thanks to all of them for not messing with the cam as it wasn't locked.

My vote is for a new thread on this topic. That might get it kick-started again.
