Whats some of your favorite backcountry food?

when i use to pack in i always fried up a couple pounds of bacon couple pounds of sausage and a bunch of taters and mixed it together, that made 3 meals and then of course the candy bars, pb&j sandwiches, and top ramen cooked in a canteen cup or eatn dry still tastes good, and i always find some room for a couple diet cokes in a plastic bottle and then the little ready mix tea and coolaid pouches

Jerky nature valley bars ramen pop tarts. I have yet to try the peanut butter bacon and honey sandwiches...I could care less about how much nutrients I get out of it If i can barely get it down. What is everyones thoughts on these?

Made some of the PB& bacon sandwiches at home, with honey too and liked em.  Very tasty.  Toasting the bread helps them last longer and not get too torn up.  Took a bunch out (forgot the honey packets to add in the field) and they were fine.  Flattened a bit and seemed a bit drier than at home, but still were very tasty and satisfying, especially with some Ramen soup.  This time, I'm toasting the bread at home and putting into a ziplock bag, then frying up the bacon at home and putting that in a seperate ziplock.  Bringing a tub of creamed honey and will make them out in the field.  The spreadable, creamed honey should be a great touch.  Heard about them forever too and decided to try 'em finally.  Like them a lot.

Now I know why in the backpacking threads you see 75 pound packs. I am all about purpose out there almonds, dried berries, some instant coffee, different kinds of  jerky, weight gainer protien (tons of carbs and protien) a few propel water flavor singles keep up the electrolites and emergen-c packs to keep from getting sick they are amazing warm! A few mre's and a bunch of oat meal I premix it with rasins and powdered maple syrup really hits the spot. If I get lucky a fresh rabit by camp!

I know it is kind of boring but my favorite thing to take in my day pack is Payday candy bars.  They are like the perfect amount of salt sugar and peanuts.

I never ever build a camp fire while archery hunting in September.  I do not need the extra stink.  I am looking forward to the years hunting season.  Last, year was the first year in three years that I found someone hunting the same area.  I hope they do not invite any more friends with them.

Popped a rabbit 2 years ago with a blunt. Marinated it for 24 hours in a zippy and submerged it in a cold stream. That was some good eating. Bring your blunts for grouse and rabbits!

What do you guys think about the fire smoke?  I've always thought it wouldn't hurt nothing, because it's a natural smell and I kinda thought it might help mask you stink a little. Any thoughts, sorry not trying to jack the thread.

This was brought up not to long ago. Some said that deer are attracted to it and they will try to stomp it out.  Bear go away from it though

Justins Nut Butter

I'm not sure I'd be eating anything called Justins Nut Butter.

Elk jerky, kippers, instant oatmeal, noodles, Yo On The Go and dried Papaya.

If water is in short supply I carry a lot of Ricola.  Put between cheek and gums like tobacco. It lasts for an hour or better. Keeps the throat wet and helps reduce water intake.
