Anyone know if it is legal for them to sell the meat?  That doesnt seem right to be able to kill that many and sell to outsiders i thought it was for them and their familys

I take it those that don't know are appalled.  Well Yak you've had almost 2 hours you going to tell them?

I've spent a lot of time throughout my life on and around the Colville Reservation and I have never once seen "a truck with 6 or 8 does and little bucks piled in the back of a tribal member's truck".... I guess it sounds better to exaggerate the truth. Anyway, the deer are doing as well in Ferry County as they are in the rest of the state. People just want something to complain about as to why they don't see any deer so obviously, it must be the tribes fault.
It is absolutely not an "exaggeration"!  I as well as many of my cousins and my hunting buddy (who happens to live on a forrest service road near the rez line in Republic) have all seen it with our own eyes on several occasions. A couple friends of our who own orchards in Chelan have told us about the Colvilles showing up to their farms with deer stacked like cord wood in the back looking to sell them to his workers.  It is not just some isolated incident or "exaggerated truth".  The declining deer population in some areas is NOT solely because of the tribes, there are a ton of other factors, non tribal poaching, predators, weather etc, but the tribes are a contributor to the problem.

I used this pic from a buddy of mine and I would appreciate it if he keep quiet for a bit and some of you older members might have seen this before. Just wanted to know what you guys thought about a good morning hunt?

OK don't let your mind wander. I didn't get the response I thought I would. Them deer were taken by non-Tribal members with tags.

It was obvious that the picture wasn't of tribal members' deer- the "Bowtech" sticker on the truck was a dead giveaway. I've never heard of any "modern" indians doing their killing with a bow and arrow. Kind of ironic, isn't it?

Didn't get the responce you were looking for? That said it looks like bow hunters or people who had doe tags. My camp this year will have to muley does hanging from the pole.

That was definately done by the Yakamas at the firing center.   8) And they definately are pretty skilled at deer hunting.  :chuckle:

I know several that bow hunt also. The Colville reservation opens up bow hunting for elk in September before modern firearm season in October....oddly, that sounds rather similar to WDFW... But then again some board members know for a fact they don't bow hunt, so it must be just for show.

We have had 6 bucks piled up in the back of a truck coming home from Republic before. Got a lot of thumbs up on the way back to the wet side and a few dirty looks.  The difference is that it was obvious that we weren't tribal "hunters".  The trucks that I speak of with deer piled in them were driven by well known tribal members with tribal decals all over the rig.  There was no doubt what was going on.   Sometime ask the guy on the Keller Ferry about how many truck loads of tribal killed deer go across there.
