WDFW Poll
« on: June 24, 2008, 06:40:33 PM »
Below is a question from the WDFW questionaire about the 2009-11 hunting season regulations.  How did you guys vote?

Quote
Currently, hunters are allowed to hunt for black bear and cougar during deer and elk seasons. Concern has been expressed regarding the number of hunters that don't have a valid deer or elk tag who claim to be hunting bear or cougar. The concern is that they are party hunting and intend to shoot someone else's deer or elk.

Rank the following options, with "1" being your most preferred and "6" being your least preferred.

A. Require cougar and bear hunters to possess valid deer/elk tags during open deer/elk seasons. 1 2 3 4 5 6

B. Close cougar or bear seasons during all deer or elk sesons. B. Close cougar or bear seasons during all deer or elk sesons. 1 2 3 4 5 6

C. Close cougar or bear seasons during late deer or elk seasons. C. Close cougar or bear seasons during late deer or elk seasons. 1 2 3 4 5 6

D. Close cougar or bear seasons during modern firearm deer or elk seasons. D. Close cougar or bear seasons during modern firearm deer or elk seasons. 1 2 3 4 5 6

E. No change. E. No change. 1 2 3 4 5 6
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

People will always break the rules. I don't want to endorse that activity but the least bad part of this is that more than likely someone has a tag to put on the animal. I don't like the idea that bear and cougar hunters have to suffer because of the bad apples and this should not be the precedence they set moving forward in my opinion. I would like to hunt deer and bear at the same time and I buy my tags. It should not be a requirement and I should not be punished because of those few bad apples. This isn't romper room and if it is so rampant they should stop bothering or harassing archers with pistols, or people being honest and get after people killing animals without tags instead.

i vote no change because then it takes away from the guy who shot his deer day one and then has the rest of the week with his or her friends to hunt with. my camp always has guys who shoot a deer or elk early and then try and fill their bear or cougar tag. there will always be rule breakers and making things tougher for the people who do follow the rules won't stop others from breaking them.

This potential change sucks. First off if someone in my hunting party shot a deer and wanted me to tag it, there may be a fight. I find it hard to believe that many people party hunt. Whats next?

This is insane.

No change.

Maybe wildlife can ban hikers from hiking during hunting season, unless they carry a tag! You never know, they may be party hunting...and simply pushing game! You never know! :dunno:

Forgot to mention; Maybe wildlife should stop worrying about how to charge everybody for every conceivable thing and concentrate instead on game management and ENFORCEMENT...but that is just my stupid opinion... :P
