Halibut baked over the fire smeared with mayo, lemon pepper and onions.  It was to die for!  The next night was deep fried Alaskan prawns, crab legs and moose meat over the fire.  Having a cousin who is a commercial fisherman in Alaska in you camp sure has it's benefits.

Elk backstraps, cooked over the coals, a side of bacon, dutch oven biscuits, and Bulleit Bourbon and Coke.

MRE "chicken with salsa" I heat up the main meal the jalepano cheese and the Spanish style rice. Then I make a "bowl" out of the mre bag and mix all of it together. Then I crush up the vegetable crackers over the top and eat it. Then i eat the peanut buttwr m and ms and the cookies for desert. Doesn't get better than that.

Dude, you gotta get out more...

No way dude. This is a. delicacy to a backcountry bowhunter. Mmmm

I second that one!   Meals Rarely Edible are on my list of the worst food I've ever had in camp.  Those young grouse breasts sure sound like they would have made my list though.  Dang I might have to make myself a midnight snack that made me so hungry.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

'Ash deer or elk'. Take thin cut steaks soaked in olive oil and garlic, salt and pepper, put them on a stick like a hot dog and cook over an open fire.Got the name from lessons learned from dropping them into the ashes the first few times 'til we figured out how to keep them on the stick. Simple and delicious!

Elk bacon rapped back strap,
:yeah:

Used to take a cryovack (SP?) of frozen ribeye (Used as ice for the cooler) Once it starts to un-thaw just cut it thick or thin to your liking. Would tie a rope up high over the fire, wire the grate from the rope so it hangs over the fire. sit on a log and swing the steak back and fro over the fire MMMM.....mmmm with baker potatoes in tin foil in the coals.

Where in the hell are all of you hunting at? Aren't hunting camps supposed to have a smashed loaf of bread, jar of peanut butter and a crushed bag of chips.

Ill go with the tender loins, deer or elk, fried fast in a cast iron skillet with potatoes, onions, and peppers.....depending on time of day, crack a few eggs over it, too.   Again, depending on the time of day,  follow with liberal amounts of ice cold beer :chuckle:

Well yesterday, after being in the high country after muleys, I was excited to have a chicken breast MRE, with macaroni, jalapeno cheese, m&m's, poundcake, crackers, and jalapeno ketchup.  Was on the bottom end of favorable camp meals, but I was starving.  Also, didn't feel good the rest of the day, today was ok though.  But best meal ever, was about a pound of oreos, and about 30 oz of 2% milk, after my dad, me and hunting partner packed his elk and our camp out 8 miles, trying to beat a snow storm, and getting back to the truck at 5am....  3 times I think I have cheated death, that was the 2nd time...

I brought about 3 gallons of squid I'd caught at work in Seattle to our camp in Idaho one year.  I set up an assembly line for cleaning, cutting, battering and spices with me at the end frying them over the campfire.  I tried to get a pile of done pieces made so we could all enjoy them, but they were gone as quick as I could get them out of the pan.  Everyone still laughs about how quick those squid went and how everybody only knows one step in the squid cleaning process.  BeakMan, QuillMan, and SkinMan still have their names.
