two limits of grouse today
« on: September 11, 2011, 11:22:24 PM »
the original plan was to go elk hunting on weyerhauser land but they closed it for fire danger... so we made the best of it and went humpie fishing saturday and today we went grouse hunting/mushroom picking/brass picking....

:IBCOOL:  We put the boots to them today! The benelli nova and the 10/22 are an awesome grouse combo! what an awesome day of hunting. It was super slow at my first spot so we moved down to another area and really got into them thick. we found some brass (we brass horde), picked a few chantrelles, and both got our limits in less than 4 hours... best day of hunting this year

I have not been happier with a shotgun. I got that shotgun as is for 350 out the door at Federal way discount guns in their used gun section! that 10/22 was my first gun my dad bought me when i was 12 and ive killed more birds with that than any other gun i own...  those are my two favorite guns i own.

Working as a team the .22 got 4 and the shotgun got 4... they were all coveyed up. lol I had to thump a lot of brush because they would always fall in the thickest brush.... lol two of them were hilarious. i thought they were dead on the road (mark dropped them with the ruger) and then they got up and ran! it was like chasing a chicken... sorry... two chickens...

Mark was crying he was laughing so hard i literally jumped on one through a bunch of brush and the next i found hiding at the base of a tree on a slope and i jumped on him too and barely got him by the leg(flapping like crazy). mark says i'm the best hunting dog ever... I was a hot mess covered in every type of plant you can imagine... all i can say is that when we got back to the truck for lunch that was the best beer of my life...
