looks like huntnphool.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

Story huh, alright here it is. After tagging trophy buck after trophy buck for years I FINALLY!!!  convinced WF70 to apply for Montana to join in on some of the fun. I guess he got tired of looking at all the bone stacked up in the garage and decided he needed a wall hanger for himself. Well the year he ended up applying, can't remember right now, I had a point already having not drawn the previous year, which as you guys know is practically unheard of :chuckle: Anyhow he applied by himself and didn't draw but I did. He decided to tag along with me to learn the areas and get out of town for a bit, of course all I wanted was someone to pack for me :lol4: After a few days of spotting loads of bucks and teaching him how to field judge them, I pulled the trigger on a 29" 5X4, pictured here with my daughter holding it. I guess it gave him a real bug because all he could do was count the days to the next drawing. Well the next year he drew and I didn't, :dunno: I have drawn 8 of the last 11 and those its just bad luck that two of them came right around that time. Being the nice big brother I am :chuckle: I told him I would take him over and be his spotter, he would still have to do all the packing though :chuckle: First day in Montana we were running out of light so we thought we would pull off and do a little long range spotting before dark. We hit the dirt and glassed the hills locating several good animals but nothing worth tagging on the first day. Headed over this hill and on the edge of the trees I see a large group so we stopped and got the binos up. In the group was a nice 6 point so down he went. I was shocked to say the least, these kind of things never happen to me, even though I hear about them all the time. I was able to drive right up to it too. We quartered it out, loaded it on the car and headed east. It was November and quite cold, I now know my temp reader overhead in the Excursion goes to 0. Got to SE Montana in the morning and drove around glassing all day marking good bucks on the map and covering lots of ground. Just about to the ranch house we stop and check a draw that generally holds a good buck or two, or three... ;) We glass for a couple minutes and spot this guy. A good stalk and shot and it was over. By the time we got the truck to him it was dark so I had to put the headlights on it for pics. No need for spotlights when you hunt private land :chuckle: Some of you guys have met WF70 and know he isn't a little guy like his big brother, here is a better pic of the buck, I have to teach him how to focus better when he takes the pics. :chuckle: The pic of the Excursion is headed home the next day up in one of the passes over there. Not a bad trip, 6 point bull and big typical muley both within 24 hours and headed home :IBCOOL: I was one proud big brother, although he now calls me his "older" brother :bash:

Sounds like a good time!! Short sweet hunt. Helps to have private land to hunt.
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.
