Good looking Bear.  Looks like it has some pretty good size feet.

Yeah this one had the frame of a big bear. He was really skinny though. His paw that is in the air in the picture was broken and had healed like that. We shot him at 2pm in the afternoon. We went for a drive in a new area and stoped to look at a clearcut. When we got out we were noisy, slammed the doors and b-sing all the way to the landing that overlooked the clearcut. when we got there my dad turned around to go relieve himself in the bushes and I glanced down the hill and 100 yards down the hill feeding on berries was this guy. He never new we were there until my dad shot. He dropped with the first shot, My old man broke both shoulders with his 338. Dang thing was tough though kept trying to pull itself down hill so he put a second shot in him to end it. I really think the prior injury took alot away from this bear he was really long and skinny, only weighed around 200 or 220, I think for the frame he should have been well over a 300 pound bear. My dad is 6'0 260 and the bear almost puts his size to shame. I guess it could be the lack of food to this point for them on the west side. Anyway fun day in the woods and a lucky ending.

If THATS how you "guide" for bear, sign my butt up for your next available slot!  :hello:
I'd drive around, BS with you and pee ALL OVER the woods if it would help me get a bear!

Congrats

Got caught w/his pants down & still got the bear.  Now that is skill!  Was it prone, offhand, or squatting?
