UNIT 251 INFO
« on: September 06, 2011, 06:52:41 PM »
I will be hunting unit 251(mission) unit for the first time this year. This is a last min. trip so no scouting has been done. I will be hunting around the blewett pass area off highway 97. I would like any feedback on this area. How is the Deer and elk hunting in this area?? Is it worth my time to elk hunt in this area?? Thanks for your feedback.

You wont get to much info on a first post like this. Not like everyone is going to tell you there honey hole.  :chuckle:  You just have to get out there and see what you can find.

the harvest statistics..thats where you should start, you will get a lot of misinformation online. When you say "worth it" does that mean tagging out or seeing lots of deer or seeing beautiful scenery?

there are more deer than elk in the area.. I havent seen hardly any deer just driving the roads so if you want to see animals you have to hoof it, try the timber, a lot of the unit is timbered so if you dont see deer your going to hear them jumping. How many deer per day are you used to seeing?

I heard that area blows. I recommend grinding it out road hunting.
