Damn Cougars!
« on: June 25, 2008, 12:41:57 PM »
Just talked to my dad over on the property in Colville.
We are having some surveying done to adjust and purchase some more lanSeems that while out walking the property, a young cougar thought he was going to get a free meal.  While marking the boundary stake, he got a weird feeling and looked up and a cougar was crouched down about 15 yards or so away staring him in the eye.  Of course, like an idiot, the old man was unarmed.  His .44 mag sitting on the dining room table.
He yelled and waved and the cat, stodd up and cam e a little closer, then meandered away and circled down below him and started coming back up the hill to him again.  About this time, the dogs started barking down the hill as they got let out of the house and the cat decided to go away.

All the calling for Coyotes and Cougars/Bears, and nothing, and now they are apparently everywhere.  Saw 3 bears and 6 coyotes in the last week.  Guess it is time to thin out the dogs, and wait patiently for bear and cougar season.

Dad is pretty worried about the local fawns and his dogs.  Hopefully the cougar will not come down the extra 200 yards and wind up in the driveway...........

Coug season is coming quick....hopefully the cat sticks around for some hot lead. Good luck on the yotes! Take lots of pics....I am glad to hear the ole guy made it out safe. Scary stuff...those cats are so sneaky.

Going to try to make a trip over after the 4th and do a little thinning of the dogs.  Have two bears picked out for the opener that seem to always go through the same place, so hopefully will get one of those too.

May need to hire an experienced Coyote caller in the near future!

when we went into town and such to get some good eats, all the locals were very happy to see us. they hate all the lions around there, never met a person up there that was glad to have them around

I do not mind that the cats are out there, but this one is brave and just a little to close to the house for comfort.  Had a bear 10 feet out the back door as well, but he was really young and ran off.  Hopefully the cat stays out of the yard/landing........  If not, he will surely be a dead kitty if he comes too close to the house and my dad's dogs......

Come on September!!!!!
