Most taxidermists have access to somebody who can put artificial velvet on. If you have a local taxidermist that you like, you might check with them first, otherwise pm me and I can recommend somebody but you would have to send your skull out (most taxidermists do this as well).

To put fake velvet on your buck, I would have to recommend Peter's Taxidermy off of 224th and Meridian out in Graham.  The place does amazing work and I have personally seen a few bulls that he has put velvet on and they look natural.  Congrats' on your buck, I have a similiar story to yours, but mine resulted in a miss on one of the biggest blacktails I have ever seen.

Great story and beautiful buck man! Putting a spot and stalk on a mule deer in open country is no easy task. A velvet-mount would be awesome. Thanks for the story, it's just getting me more and more excited to be out there soon myself!

Nice buck! Great stalk and hunt! There are a ton of Taxidermists on here one should have a answer about the velvet.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

This was good to read ... I live off 224th and Meridian!!!!!  Hopefully I can steer some business their way later in the year!

And great buck!  Nice write up too!

could you freeze dry the euro with the velvet hanging off, or would it be brittle when frozen and break off?   :dunno:
