First Bear
« on: September 08, 2011, 12:52:18 PM »

Last weekend I had a 4 day so I hiked 6 miles into the Glacier peak wilderness and set up camp. I hunted hard, saw 3 bears and ended up taking one on the morning I was due to hike out. It was a long 6 miles with over 100 lbs. of bear in my ruck. Luckly I had two friends with me to split my gear between so it only took one trip. I used a Vanguard in 257 wby with factory TSX and it was a 100 yard shot. I first saw him around 225-250 yards away but was able to stalk closer using blown over trees and root balls as cover. What a rush!

I got to JBLM in June 09. I got to go hunting for deer one day in the fall of 09 and that will be the last time I hunt public land that isn't a Wilderness area. It was insane. With the wilderness area I know the farther I hike in the less chances of running into other hunters. I have never hunted JBLM though I have done everything required to be able to. This was my second hunt for black bear though the one 3 weeks ago was more of a scouting trip for high buck.

Very nice bear..

Need more pics!!!!

Congratulations.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.
