Bear from the weekend
« on: September 08, 2011, 02:20:33 PM »
We spent all weekend hunting.  Had a few close calls on nice bucks and saw a few bears.  We only got a shot at one bear but he was a nice one.  About 250lbs with a red hide and black head/arms.  He rolled right over a cliff and it took us close to 3 hours to get to him.  By the time we got to him he was really bloody and rigimortus so we didn't get any great pictures.  The first picture is of where we found him with Lance (the shooter), notice the cliffs in the background of the picture - he was about 800 feet above those cliffs when we shot!  The second pic shows his head.  It was a long, terrible pack out through devils club and vine maples, but worth it in the end with a great bear in the freezer!  Luckily we had three guys in there so we were able to get everything out in one trip.

Pretty color on him, sounds like you worked for it.  Congratulations.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

Thats a pretty good size Bear.  Nice color on him for sure.  Sure did cut his face up on the way down.   :)  Those are just story marks.

Ouch, what a fall that was. You'll remember this one for a long time.

Especially at that moment when we watch another one roll down that cliff!   :chuckle:

Hardcore!  Nicely done.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Is that gash on the face from the fall? Nice work man! Those nasty pack outs are ones ya remember and laugh about later on.
