340 Elk Down
« on: September 08, 2011, 09:37:06 PM »
After a 2 hour drive trying to find which road was open or closed, I managed to find a a camp spot off the 3200 near the wash out. Opening morning hunt revealed 4 mule deer and NO elk. Since I was hunting alone I packed up and moved locations. Day 2 was much better, I shot a nice little spike around 0830 and by 1000 had him quartered and was  hiking back to Camp. Lucky for me just as I got to my truck I meet 2 other guys hunting. With Big Bull tags, they graciously offered to help me pack the rest with me.They dropped their bows and we hiked back in to get the rest of my elk.  I do not remember their names but, I wanted to say THANKS again.

here is the only pic I have from my phone. again I was alone on this hunt and had to get moving because of the heat. I was hunting a patch of timber, I sat down in a bunch of logs, branches  make shift blind. was there for 30-45 minutes heard some elk moving down along the creek, they passed me with out a good look at them, I waited another 30 minutes or so heard a crack, did a few cow calls, and this guy and a few others came in. he was 30 yards when I shot. that's the exit side he was quartering away from me.

Nice bull.  It will be a good eater.
