243 trajectory

I was sighting in my 243 Savage, shooting 95 grain Hornady SST and noticed that if I am 3 inches high at 100 yds, I am shooting roughly 4.5 to 5 inches high at 200 yds. On the box it says that if you are 1.5 high at 100 yds that they should shoot roughly zeroed at 200. Does it make sense that the trajectory is still rising out to 200 yds. I am a bit confused on whether it should be dropping from 100 to 200 in trajectory or rising from 100 to 2000 yds. Any insight would be helpful!

That sounds about right. You've just got it too high at 100. Bring it down to about 2 inches high at 100 and I think it will work out a lot better.

My calculater is telling me with the a 250yd zero you can hold on out to 300yds
95gr nosler at 3000fps            200yd zero
2.7" high at 100yds               1.7" at 100yds
2.4" at 200yds                      0 at 200yds
0 at 250yds and                   -2.6 at 250yds
3.3 low at 300yds                 -6.9 at 300yds

Zero it at 200 yards and be done with it. Hold the pocket of a deer at a hundred yards and it's over. Hold his back at 300 and it over.I've killed alot of does with a 243 and some antelope, way out there.... I can say this , the 25-06 is way nastier with the 100gr bullet class.

  Dont ya just love the .243 I shot my remington 700 ADL So much when I was a kid I shot the barrel out of it but who knows how many rounds my dad put threw it before I started hunting ... all I know is it decapatated alot of Pennsylvania groundhogs...

I know, the .243 with a V-Max makes for some real messes when it comes to Groundhogs .
