Scouting
« on: September 14, 2011, 09:26:27 PM »
Evening all, got a scouting question.

Is it bad form to scout two weeks before the start of the season (modern)? We were supposed to head over to Rimrock for some scouting in two weeks but my Dad decided to take his thumb off (well mostly off) with the table saw. That and my Bro has decided to go back to school and can't miss the class.

So the only thing that works is a scouting trip for elk during general deer season.

So, too close to elk season or no worries?

Thanks...

Personally, I would want to know where the elk are closer to my season as opposed to the middle of the summer.  I have the Muzzy Quality tag for the Observatory hunt and I'm going over for a scouting trip this weekend.  So, to answer your question, no, not too early.  Go get eyes on some elk so you're ready to go come time

I agree with JColony, the closer the better, animals change behavior quite a bit through the seasons, so closer to the set date will at least give you a better idea.
