To there and back again a "Bone" tale.
« on: September 10, 2011, 12:12:47 PM »
I don't get any hunting magazines anymore, who has time to read with this site and family.   Since I don't plan on writing this story up for any publication, anyone interested in this years Boneaddict hunt?

I packed back into where I went scouting earlier this year.  Though I didn't see anything super big the area certainly has potential.  I was mostly after that 5x4 buck we saw.  I'd be very happy with him
Here he was back at the first of August.

The hike in was nasty.   It just happened to be the hottest week of the whole year I think.   I managed to make it into my lower camp which is 14 miles in.  It took me about 9 grueling hours.   I don't think I have ever drank so much water.
My bivy for the week.

Photos won't be the best.  I packed my daughters little Lumix with a 5x zoom.   Day three I figured out how to get it to digitalzoom to x12.   I was trying to avoid the backlash of doing a trip without my camera, but damned if I was going to pack that thing in there again.   Then in the trail I was trying to take a photo with it and the damn thing wouldn't work.   I was hearing the tongue lashing already. :chuckle:

Like I said, the weather was hot as heck.   The deer apparantly were taking full advantage of the bright moon to get their activities out of the way.  They are in the middle of their changeover as well with their winter coats coming in and the velvet coming off.  I started off the day with only seeing one two point in the rocks in the sun.  He happened to be still in velvet and in his reds.  My goal was to get into a lofty perch then make a move.  Let the climb begin.
