Mudflow update
« on: September 10, 2011, 02:03:15 PM »
So, whent down to the mudflow on opening day. At first light put a couple stalks on some smaller bulls, without an oportunity to take a shot. At around 8:30 took a pb&j break and heard a bugle a couple hundred yards toward the river. I decided to call back, sure enough there what a bull right on the timber line that called back and came rushing out of the woods. He stood facing me for about 30 seconds at 60 yards *a narrow 6point*. He started coming my way and i got excited. he got within 20 yards then spoked. Not sure if he caught our wind or the other hunters that just came over a hill a hundred yards away. Anyway, he ran back to right around 60 yards, i didn't feel comfortable with the shot so i let him walk. I have been bugling him every morning and evening but he wont come out of the timber. Took a break on thursday and a gamewarden told me the woods have been shut down. Just waiting for a weather break but i doubt they will give access before the season is over. Preaty disapointed, i finally drew a nice tag and can't hunt it because fire danger. Gonna try another area i know that isn't owned by a big timber company and see what i can put together. Does anyone know if WDFW will issue another tag due to the woods being shut down for fire danger?

I highly doubt they will issue you a new tag, you put in for the area knowing the majority could be closed at any time.

Hot dry weather is an (act of god), this is the phrase that they use to tell you that they have no control over the weather. Unfortunately what it means is that they won't give you another or different tag.

For us they closed it because of the mountain acting up and no new tag just sorry.

If there is I think you'd have to go through Weyerhaeuser to get to it.
